Positions Advertised San Diego State University Faculty Position: Chinese Religions: SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY, Department of Religious Studies, invites applications for a tenure-track position at assistant professor rank in religious traditions of Chinese Religions, to begin Fall semester 2011. The position is focused on the religious traditions of China in their Asian contexts and also in the context of contemporary America. Candidates will specialize in Daoism, Confucianism, Buddhism or folk traditions; however, we expect undergraduate teaching competency in all of these traditions as well as in Neo-Confucianism and New Religions of China and Taiwan. The position requires appropriate language skills, fieldwork, and/or life experience in Asia. Preferred candidates will have pedagogical skills in World Religions. Desirable related interests include any of the following: sex and gender studies, sociology and ethnography, or religion and psychology. Commitment to teaching excellence and scholarship is essential. Ph.D. desired. We will interview at the American Academy of Religion in Atlanta. Applicant screening will begin October 1, 2010.
