Key responsibilities
As Professor of Comparative Philosophy will be making an important contribution to the Institute’s academic environment and to the development of global and comparative perspective in our teaching and research programmes.
You will:
• Maintain a productive line of research in comparative philosophy, preferably with an emphasis on Asian, preferably Chinese, philosophy;
• Take advantage of external research funding opportunities;
• Contribute to the development and teaching of philosophy courses from a global and comparative perspective;
• Contribute to the management of the Institute for Philosophy and the Faculty of Humanities.

The Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy invites submissions to be considered for inclusion in panels at the upcoming APA Pacific Division Meeting. Submissions focusing on any area of Asian and/or Comparative philosophy will be considered. Both individual papers and completed panel proposals are encouraged.
The Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam invites applications for a two-year, temporary assistant professor (UD) position in Political Theory, starting 1 January 2017. Specialization is open, but we especially welcome candidates who specialize in Chinese, Buddhist, Islamic, and Africana political theories in comparative or historical perspective as well as applied ethicists or political philosophers who work on global justice, environmental ethics, ethics of war, etc. Candidates who combine such expertise with knowledge of political science research and methods are especially encouraged to apply.
