The Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy invites submissions to be considered for inclusion in panels at the upcoming APA Pacific Division Meeting. Submissions focusing on any area of Asian and/or Comparative philosophy will be considered. Both individual papers and completed panel proposals are encouraged.

Call for Papers and Abstracts: SACP at Eastern APA (New York, January 4 – 7, 2021)
Submission deadline: June 15, 2020
We welcome scholars to submit proposals for either complete panels or individual papers.
Guidelines for paper/abstract submission:
For individual papers, please submit a 250 word abstract, with or without a completed paper attached. If only an abstract is submitted, a complete version of the paper is required at least 30 days before the meeting to provide the session chair and panelists with enough time to prepare for their session. Completed papers should be written in English and not exceed 4000 words. The presentation time for each paper will be approximately 20-25 minutes (this is about 10-12 pages of TNR 12pt double-spaced text, FYI). For panel proposals, please submit a panel proposal (250 words) explaining how the papers of the panel fit together, and individual paper abstracts (250 words). Panel proposals may also include suggestions for a panel chair, although this is not required. Please include your full name, academic affiliation, and email in your proposal.
Please let us know if you are simultaneously submitting a separate proposal to other Asian philosophy groups for the same APA meeting.
Membership of the SACP is not required for consideration or acceptance, but we ask that you be a current SACP member by the time we submit the session information to the APA.

A note from APA regarding Meeting 2021:
Note: Currently, all three APA divisions are planning to hold in-person meetings in 2021. At the same time, we are also considering alternative formats, such as virtual meetings, as contingencies in the case that our usual meeting format becomes impossible. Though external forces like the ongoing pandemic affect and inform our plans, your participation is the most critical input for planning any meeting. If you are considering submitting a session request, we encourage you to do so.

Position Announcement: Professorial Lecturer

The Department of Philosophy and Religion in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, academic year appointment in Asian Religious Traditions at the rank of Professorial Lecturer beginning August 24, 2020. Teaching duties include introductory courses in religious studies. We particularly welcome candidates with expertise in East Asian religion as it relates to philosophy, as well as religious ethics. In addition to scholarship and teaching, responsibilities will include participation in department, school and university activities.
Applicants should hold a PhD; however, highly qualified applicants with a master’s degree related to field will be considered. Salary and benefits are competitive for a full-time term appointment. The teaching load for the year is three courses per semester (fall and spring). Funding for research and/or travel to participate in academic conferences is available.
