Job Summary: The Department of Philosophy at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin fall of 2017. This position seeks candidates with an AOS in Asian Philosophy; the AOC is open. Faculty members in USF’s philosophy department operate out of a wide-range of philosophical traditions, including analytic, continental, and the history of philosophy.

Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach, amongst other courses, an undergraduate survey in classical Asian Philosophy. The expected teaching load for this position at USF is two 4-unit courses per semester with an additional third course every fourth semester (2-2-2-3 over two years). In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in service to the department and college, as well as maintain an active research program.

Minimum Qualifications: include a Ph.D. in philosophy by the fall of 2017. A strong record and commitment to undergraduate teaching, a promising scholarly research program, a willingness to work in a culturally diverse environment, and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University of San Francisco are required.
